| The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel is one of the most historical hotels in Canada. Click here for an overview of its history: Fairmont Banff History. We were there for two nights. It's very well maintained, and the customer service is excellent. My personal preference, however, is for a much more casual and modern environment, which is definitely not the style here. The hotel is located a short cab ride, or a moderate walk from downtown Banff. | |||||

| Above, the hotel lobby. Below, elk on the soccer field close to the hotel. Getting too close to the elk is not recommended. People forget that they're wild and they can be aggressive if bothered during rutting season. Below right, the pool at Banff Hot Springs, which is about a five minute cab ride up from the hotel. We rented old time swimsuits and spent about an hour in the springs. I've spared you the pictures of me in an old time swimsuit. | |||||
| Above, the falls that are very near the hotel, and the bridge into downtown Banff. I didn't take any pictures of the town of Banff because the entire main street is undergoing a major renovation and it was completely torn up. Back at the hotel, we were given a suite the second night of our stay because of a mix up the night before. We spent the rest of the day in the tea room, and on a tour of the hotel. Below are pictures of the suite, and some of the hotel's public spaces and views. | |||||
The last night of the tour ended with a fun cocktail party and a great dinner. All in all, we had a great trip. A special thanks to our tour guide, Eva Horne who is pictured with us above. Eva is an outstanding and knowledgeable tour director. Thanks, Eva, for a great tour! |
